The Federal Government has officially dropped its criminal case against Ms. Comfort Emmanson – the Ibom Air passenger whose outburst on a flight landed her in jail – and has slashed Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal’s (KWAM 1) flight ban to just one month.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, SAN, announced the decision on Wednesday after a series of talks with key industry stakeholders over the spate of controversies rocking Nigeria’s airports.
According to Keyamo, Ms. Emmanson – whose heated exchange aboard an Ibom Air flight on 10 August 2025 sparked the incident – showed “deep remorse” in a statement given to police, with her lawyer present. Following Ibom Air’s formal withdrawal of its complaint, Keyamo ordered the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, to fast-track her release from Kirikiri Prison this week.
The minister also revealed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) had agreed to lift Ms. Emmanson’s lifetime flight ban, with the full resolution to be made public in the coming days.
