Peter Obi, a prominent Nigerian politician and former presidential candidate, has commented on the Ibom Air incident involving Comfort Emmanson via a post on X.
He criticized the selective punishment in the case, suggesting that the response to Emmanson’s actions was disproportionately harsh compared to similar incidents involving more influential figures. Obi argued that this discrepancy shows a lack of fairness in how aviation authorities and airlines handle such cases, pointing to a broader issue of inconsistent enforcement based on social or political status.
His stance aligns with some public sentiments questioning the escalation and handling of the incident, as well as the lifetime ban imposed by Ibom Air and the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON).
