The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a massive surge in its membership, claiming the party now commands over 800,000 registered supporters.
At a weekend press briefing in Port Harcourt, ADC spokesperson Luckyman Egila revealed that some of the state’s most influential political figures have defected to the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Egila declared, “The ADC in Rivers State is now the beautiful bride. We’ve been receiving big names into our fold.”
Among the new entrants are former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia. Also switching camps is Prince Uche Secondus, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“These people have officially joined the ADC, collected their membership cards, and are now full members,” Egila stressed.
The party’s growing list of political big hitters also includes ex-Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Austin Okpara, and former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo.
Egila added, “You can’t write these names off in Rivers politics. They are now firmly with the ADC.”
