Katsina Police Rescue 50 Kidnap Victims in One Month

The Katsina State Police Command says it’s been a busy and productive July 2025 — one that saw over 50 kidnap victims rescued and multiple bandit attacks foiled.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, said the feat was part of a wider push to make the state safer for residents and their property. The police, he explained, had been deploying “several strategies” to tackle crime head-on.

Between July 1 and 31, officers arrested 302 suspects for various offences. This included 14 people picked up for armed robbery, 22 for murder or culpable homicide, 25 suspected rapists, 20 vandals, eight suspected fraudsters, and 26 alleged drug dealers. The remaining 194 suspects were linked to other serious crimes.

Recovered items from operations were no less dramatic: 199 rustled animals — 161 cows and 68 sheep — along with three suspected stolen vehicles, two stolen motorcycles, bags of cannabis, assorted illicit drugs, and a large quantity of vandalised armoured cable.

Sadiq credited the progress to the “unwavering support” of the Katsina State Government and the cooperation of residents. “These successes wouldn’t have been possible without the good people of the state,” he added.
