ADC Faction Rejects David Mark’s Leadership Bid

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) loyal to Nafiu Bala has rejected the emergence of former Senate President David Mark as interim leader, saying he is “not a bona fide member”.

Faction spokesman Aminu Alhassan accused the coalition that installed Mark of breaching the party’s constitution, insisting leadership roles were reserved for actual members.

The Mark-led group, backed by high-profile politicians including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir el-Rufai, is seeking INEC recognition ahead of 2027. Bala’s camp, however, insists their claim is illegitimate and a “blatant disregard for democratic principles”.
