The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a fresh advisory to Nigerian students studying in the U.S., warning that any violation of their visa terms could lead to visa revocation and jeopardise future eligibility. The embassy reminded students that abandoning their programme, skipping classes, or dropping out without proper notification can result in losing their legal student status.
According to U.S. immigration rules, international students holding F-1 or M-1 visas are required to maintain a full course load and show consistent academic progress. The embassy emphasized that students facing academic challenges should immediately consult their Designated School Officials to explore available options, including reduced course loads or programme extensions where permitted.
This latest warning follows an earlier advisory on visa fraud, where the embassy cautioned that submitting fake documents during a visa application could attract a lifetime ban from entering the United States
