Ebonyi state Governor lifts suspension on 81 top government officials

In Ebonyi State, Governor Francis Nwifuru has officially lifted the suspension of 81 top government officials. The move comes just over a week after the state government took disciplinary action against the officials for missing a key government event.

The affected individuals include the Attorney General, 25 commissioners, 22 permanent secretaries, 14 senior special assistants, and 24 special assistants. They were directed to resume duties immediately, following a directive from the Governor issued through his Chief Press Secretary.

The suspension, which began on July 28th, 2025, had barred the officials from receiving salaries or signing official documents during the one-month period. The action was widely seen as a warning to government appointees to take official functions more seriously.

This development signals a return to normal operations within the Ebonyi State government. With the officials back in office, the administration is expected to continue its governance agenda without further disruptions.
