Court grant Partey conditional bail following sexual assault charges

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing in a London court to face five charges of rape and sexual assault involving three women. The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022. Partey, who denies all charges, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in a brief hearing where he confirmed his understanding of the allegations and bail conditions.

The case has now been referred to the Crown Court, with a trial date set for September 2 at the Old Bailey. The 32-year-old Ghanaian international was first arrested in July 2022 but remained unnamed at the time and continued playing for Arsenal during the investigation. He is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract in June.

Partey’s legal team says he has cooperated fully with authorities throughout the three-year investigation and is determined to clear his name. Signed by Arsenal in 2020 for £45 million, he made 52 appearances for the club last season before leaving at the end of his contract.
