Flaco Jimenez, the iconic American singer and six-time Grammy Award winner, has died at the age of 86.
The veteran musician passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
His family confirmed the news in a heartfelt Facebook post, saying he died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
“It’s with great sadness we share the loss of our father, Flaco Jimenez. He was surrounded by loved ones and will be missed immensely,” the statement read.
The family also thanked his fans for their support over the years and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Flaco Jimenez was known worldwide for helping to popularise Tex-Mex music—a unique blend of traditional Mexican sounds and American country. He began performing at just 7 years old.
Over the years, he became a founding member of notable bands like Los Super Seven and the Grammy-winning Texas Tornados.
His contribution to music made him a beloved figure in the global music scene.
