The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerian Armed Forces personnel to make physical fitness a top priority, emphasizing its importance for operational readiness and personal well-being.
General Musa, represented by the Chief of Defence Administration, Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan, gave the charge during the maiden defence route march held in Abuja.
He noted that physical training had been neglected by some service members and stressed that consistent exercise is critical to maintaining combat effectiveness.
The Defence Chief stated that integrating fitness into military culture is part of a broader strategy to enhance combat readiness, boost morale, and strengthen mental and physical resilience and encouraged personnel to commit to exercising at least three times a week, regardless of duty location.
He congratulated all participants in the route march and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to wellness as a pillar of national defense.
