The Nigerian Senate has reiterated its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the executive arm of government and the Nigerian Army to ensure the military receives necessary support to uphold peace and security across the country.

This assurance was made during an oversight visit to Army Headquarters, Abuja, by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, and other committee members as part of their legislative duty to assess the implementation of the 2023 and 2024 Appropriation Acts.

According to a statement by Lt. Colonel Appo-lonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Senator Yar’Adua emphasized that the visit was focused on promoting transparency, ensuring effective budget utilization, and monitoring the execution of defense-related projects.

He expressed satisfaction with the Nigerian Army’s performance during previous visits to formations and lauded the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for facilitating smooth and insightful assessments. The senator also commended President Bola Tinubu for placing national security at the forefront of his administration’s agenda.

In response, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen.
