The Niger State Government says it has put in place a strong security framework to protect students, staff, and the wider university community ahead of the reopening of the Ibrahim Babangida Badamosi University, IBBU, Lapai, months after it was shut down due to security concerns that claimed lives within the campus..
The State Governor, Muhammed Bago, in a statement through the Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Usman said the enhanced security measures are designed to prevent a recurrence of the incidents that previously led to the university’s closure and assured continuous support for the institution’s development and safety operations.
Governor Bago commended the joint efforts of security agencies, school management, and community leaders in resolving earlier challenges, a collaboration, he noted, was key to restoring calm and readiness for academic activities.
As students prepare to return, they are being urged to strictly follow new security guidelines and work closely with university authorities. The governor stated that this cooperation will be crucial in ensuring a smooth and secure resumption of academic life.
